EzImage Patch Notes: March 04, 2008
Changes/Additions:
-Added the file name as a field entry for
Slide Attributes accessible during manual
slideshow playback using the F1
key. By changing the text in this field, you may
now rename image files during slideshow
playback on the fly.
-Added a thumbnail preview option to the
File Rename dialog window. This
allows you to see a sample of each
image, useful when renaming many files
at one time. The thumbnail option
is disabled by default. A full screen
preview option has also been added,
using either the View button or a
double click on the thumb image.
-Added a Favorites menu to both the Image
Preview Browser and the
Thumbnail Browser. This menu allows
you to create a list of favorite
paths where images are stored. The
favorites list is convenient when
switching the browser between multiple
paths without the need to use the
folder tree navigator. Each path
list is separate and can contain up to
100 path names.
-Image depths greater than 32 bits per
pixel are supported for display in
the thumbnail browser, image list
editor, and preview browser. You can
also copy these images to the clipboard
or load them into EzImage for
editing, BUT they will be converted
down to normal 8 bit per channel
format (i.e. a 16-bit per pixel
RGB format will be downsampled into
8-bit per pixel RGB format).
-A new tool has been added to the Tools
menu called Image File Finder. This
tool allows you to locate images
by size, date, pattern, type, width,
height, bit depth, and print resolution.
Options are available to create
an image list, path list, or delimited
text file from the search results.
-An option has been added to the Help menu
called File Type Associations.
This option allows you to bind all
supported image formats (with the
exception of Photoshop PSD) to EzImage.
This means that when you double
click on an image file in another
application such as Windows Explorer
for example, EzImage will be launched
and open the image file. Note that
images will not be loaded if EzImage
is currently in script playback or
record modes.
This option also allows you to remove
the EzImage association and restore
it back to the prior application(s)
that controlled the file types.
-The Paste menu command now checks to see
if both a DIB format image and a
floater exist in the Clipboard,
and displays a dialog box allowing you to
choose which format to paste.
-The New Image menu command now recognizes
the presence of a floating
image when a DIB format image is
NOT present in the Clipboard. If only
a floater is present, the option
to set Clipboard as a source format
for a new image is now enabled with
the proper width and height of the
floater. However, the image must
still be manually pasted using the
Paste menu command.
-The Edit->Clear command was modified to
work much faster on very
large images.
-Image grabber now associates the right
mouse button (during drag)
to pan the image window 10 times
the rate of the left mouse
button. In addition, the SPACE shortcut
key now zooms the image
to fit the window (this is the same
action as View->Fit Image
to Window).
-For pencil, paintbrush, and eraser tools,
holding down SHIFT will lock
the brush movement in the horizontal
direction only. Hold down CTRL to
lock the movement in a vertical
direction.
-The Sample Color tool in the Tools Palette
and the Image Comparison
tool have been modified to improve
performance when used with the
selection area Sample Size. The
method of operation had not been
changed.
-Final versions of popup help and application
help files put into
place.
-Minor adjustments were made to incorrect
help topic descriptions. As
of this date, the help topic system
is being finalized and there may
be further adjustments.
-When scanning images using the batch file
scan method, the floating
palette windows (i.e. Tools, Scripts,
Info) will be hidden to avoid
overlapping with the software that
was provided with your scanner.
Palette windows are "stay on top",
meaning that they normally sit
in front of most application windows.
-When scanning images directly into EzImage
as new image windows
using the normal File->Begin Image
Scan menu option, the application
will be minimized while the scanning
software is active. Once again,
this is to prevent window interference
between the scanning software
and the EzImage floating palettes.
When the scan is complete, the
EzImage will automatically be restored,
along with the floating
palette windows.
-For all new images that were created outside
of a normal file load process
(scanned images, duplicated images,
selection separations, images from
the New menu option), the prior
file save path was not being 'memorized',
which is important for saving these
types of images in quantity. The way
files are saved (using Save As only)
is as follows:
If the image refers to a file that
already exists on disk (i.e. was loaded
using the Open command) then the
Save As will default to the path that the
original file is located.
If the Common Folder Save option
is enabled in the application preferences
(Options II), then all new images
will be saved to the specified common
folder.
If the common folder option is not
checked, then images will be saved to the
same path as the previous image
file save.
Fixes:
- Corrected the AutoTrim Function as it
was not using the "Ignore Minimum Size for
width & height
- Help hints for foreground/background
color swap and reset in the Tools
palette were incorrect.
-File rename using Name Only and Extension
Only modes was not working
properly.
-Cursor key movement within the Image List
editor would stop responding to
keyboard input after using full
screen image previews.
-Recent Files and Recent Floaters menu
shortcuts placed on the
Scripts palette did not function
properly.
-Playback of Hue and Saturation commands
in a script file would
cause a script to stop if no range
restriction was in place.
-The Solarize effect uses a threshold setting,
which is an intensity
cutoff value at which colors are
inverted. This is how it is
documented in the help system. The
label that was in the dialog window
showed 'Cell Size'. This is a cosmetic
fix that changed the label to
the proper wording and does not
affect the operation in any way.
-When embedding a SAVE command in a script
file, the original file
reference was not being changed
on playback if the image was saved
under a different format/name/location.
-Minor adjustments to some dialog windows
to accommodate Large Fonts
users.
-The compression quality setting was not
being applied when extracting
FlashPix images using the Multi-page
Extraction tool.
-When converting images that have been
tagged as Icon/Cursor format
(using the Import Icon/Cursor feature
or the Set Icon/Cursor Set
Window option) to RGB, Indexed,
or Gray Scale format, the tag that
identifies the window as an icon
or cursor will be removed.
-Path list additions from the Path List
Editor would only save to
file, not to the memory resident
list.
-Any tools that allow an image to pan using
the cursor keys would
cause the auto-centering of the
image to be lost when only one
scroll bar is present (horizontal
or vertical, but not both).
-Cursor keys when attempting to move selections
or pan the image
window would sometimes fail to respond
to a keyboard press.
-The ability to save a selection to a brush
from a gray scale image
was missing. This has been added.
-The Reselect method was not always referring
to the correct "prior"
region selection when attempting
to restore it.
-Saving floater images that are created
from alpha channels, text or
shape tools to a file would fail
on some versions of Windows.
-Floaters rendered from shapes or text
using an indexed color image
as the source would not preserve
the color palette when the floater
was saved in .FLT format.
-Removed shortcut keys from the color palette
window popup menu when
the palette was in edit mode, as
this would conflict with the EzImage
main menu shortcuts.
-Batch file scan with some scanning software
would cause the floating
palettes to disappear.
-The new image command using 'Other Color'
on RGB format images would
not always correctly fill the background
color.
-Thumbnail browser popup menus (right click)
did not work properly for the
following menu choices:
Sorting order
Thumbnail creation options
-Image preview browser popup menus (right
click) did not work properly for the
following menu choices:
Sorting order
Selecting All, None, Inverse
-Slideshow editor popup menus (right click)
did not work properly for the
following menu choices:
Items in the Save As submenu
-Font size and name changes in general
preference would not work properly
for assigning a new name and size
to the following items:
Thumbnail image labels
Slideshow text/path/file labels
Tooltip text
-Preferences would not properly assign
the Photo CD size selection option
(Next Largest or Next Smallest image).
-Sortation indicator in status bar of the
thumbnail browser did not
update all the time.
-An option was allowed to create a new
thumbnail database while in full browse
mode. This is not a permitted option
and has been removed.
-Thumbnail browser properties while using
the Full Browse mode would not
work.
-Sortation indicator in status bar of the
preview browser did not
update all the time. |
